We're a CWB 47.1 certified welding shop serving manufacturers across Ontario. Our welders are individually qualified, and every procedure is tested to CSA W47.1 standards. We take fabrication seriously — from fit-up and tacking through to final inspection.
| Process | Capability | Notes |
|---|---|---|
| MIG (GMAW) | Mild steel to 1", stainless to 3/4" | Production-speed welding for most assemblies |
| TIG (GTAW) | Stainless & aluminum to 1/2" | Precision welds, food-grade finish, thin-wall |
| Structural | Beams, columns, frames, trusses | CJP and fillet — full penetration when specified |
| Weldments | Multi-part assemblies | Laser-cut components + welding + machining |
| Positional | All positions (F, H, V, OH) | Bench welding or on-fixture as required |
| Certifications | CWB 47.1 · ISO 9001:2015 | Welder quals + procedures documented |
Materials We Weld
We stock and weld the full range of fabrication-grade metals. If your alloy isn't listed, ask — we can source it.
| Material | Grades | Max Thickness | Common Uses |
|---|---|---|---|
| Mild Steel | A36, HRPO, CRS, 44W | 1 inch | Machine frames, brackets, structural |
| 304 Stainless | 304, 304L | 3/4 inch | Food equipment, architectural, tanks |
| 316/316L Stainless | 316, 316L | 3/4 inch | Chemical, marine, pharmaceutical |
| Aluminum | 5052, 6061-T6 | 1/2 inch | Lightweight frames, enclosures |
What Welding Fabrication Costs
Welding is priced by the linear foot of joint — not by the hour with a running clock. This keeps quotes predictable:
- Fillet welds: 3 minutes per linear foot of joint (all passes combined)
- Full-penetration (CJP): 5 minutes per linear foot of joint (root + fill combined)
- Fit-up allowance: +20% of base weld time for setup and tacking
- Food-grade premium (316L): +30% for back-purge and inter-pass cleaning
- Labour rate: $130/hr — applied to calculated weld time
A typical small weldment with 4 feet of fillet weld runs $200-400 in welding labour. A complex structural assembly with 40 feet of CJP welds runs $1,500-3,000 in welding labour, plus material. Every quote is reviewed by a fabricator before it reaches you.
Frequently Asked Questions
What does CWB 47.1 certification mean?
It means our welding procedures have been tested and approved to CSA standard W47.1 by the Canadian Welding Bureau. Every welder is individually qualified. Our quality management system is also ISO 9001:2015 certified. You get documented welds, not "trust me."
Can you weld stainless steel?
Yes — 304 and 316/316L stainless steel up to 3/4 inch thick. For food-grade and sanitary applications we use TIG with back-purge gas and inter-pass cleaning. See our stainless steel fabrication page for full details.
Do I need to provide welding drawings?
Welding drawings with AWS A2.4 weld symbols give the most accurate quote. But you can also upload STEP files, dimensioned sketches, or photos with a scale reference. We'll flag anything that needs clarification before we quote.
How fast can you turn around a welding job?
Typical lead time is 2-4 weeks depending on complexity and current shop load. We quote the delivery date alongside the price — no surprises on either front. Rush jobs can be expedited with a premium.
What's the difference between MIG and TIG welding?
MIG (GMAW) is faster and more economical — ideal for structural steel, machine frames, and most production welding. TIG (GTAW) is more precise with better cosmetic finish — ideal for stainless steel, thin-wall material, food-grade applications, and aluminum.
