What Laser Cutting Costs
Laser cutting is priced by material weight plus cutting time. No hidden fees:
- Material: Weight (lbs) × rate/lb × 1.30 markup
- Cutting labour: Laser station rate of $166/hr, applied to estimated cut time based on your geometry
- Setup: $30 flat per job (includes nesting and machine setup)
- Typical range: Simple brackets $20-80 each in small quantities. Nest of 50 parts $150-500. Large complex profiles $100-400 each.

Frequently Asked Questions
What file format should I upload for laser cutting?
DXF is the standard. Export from SolidWorks, Inventor, Fusion 360, or any CAD package. Set your units correctly (inch or mm). Our AI reads the geometry directly — no manual takeoff needed. STEP and PDF drawings also work.
How thick can you laser cut?
In-house: mild steel to 1/4", stainless to 3/16", aluminum to 1/8". For thicker plate we use Superior Alloy Technology's laser in Cambridge — up to 1" mild steel, 3/4" stainless, 1/2" aluminum. One quote covers both.
Is there a minimum order for laser cutting?
No. One part or a thousand — we'll quote it. Our AI quotes single pieces the same way as production runs. Setup cost is a flat $30 regardless of quantity.
How does your laser cutting compare to SendCutSend?
SendCutSend does flat laser cutting only — and they do it well. But they can't weld your cut parts into an assembly, they can't bend them on a press brake, and they can't machine them. If your job needs anything beyond a flat profile, we handle the full fabrication process. Plus you're supporting an Ontario shop and paying in CAD.
